So it’s possible someone may have noticed that I haven’t updated since early February. That’s due to a few reasons. First, I broke my blog on the admin side right around then, and I haven’t had time until now to fix it.
That’s due to one of the other reasons I’ve been so busy. I was hired on by my friend and mentor Andy Jenkins to do some copy for his blog and for his Video Boss launch last month. HUGE success.

I came across a really interesting article the other day, and I kept the tab open for days and days without reading it all. Anyone else do that? Anyways, I finally got around to finishing it this morning. It was about how self-control is actually contagious, in a way. Basically, if we see people behaving with self-control, we are better able to control ourselves than if we don’t have a mental example.
This is right in line with my existing belief that everything we learn is by analogy. Everything in our brains is linked to everything else, and the way we position things in our mind very much depends on these connections that connect our ideas in different ways (primarily comparisons and contrasts).

This is a post about how to create your own cult.
Not the matching-jumpsuit-and-adidas-hitchhiking-with-aliens kind of cult.
I mean a cult-like and obedient following, loyal and hungry for every word you blog, email, post or tweet? These secret tactics are what allows “gurus” to be able to send one line email promotions that make sales hand over fist. This is how you can get a six-figure pay day by saying “Check this out – AFFILIATE LINK”. This does happen. I’ve done it myself on lists I’ve worked on. It’s as close as you can get to having magic powers.

So much for posting here more regularly.
The funny part of it is, I actually DID start writing more, I’ve just sold old my good ideas.
But back to fulfilling the promise of the subject line, I’m sure that now that Conan is off the air, a lot of the hubbub will die down. But one of the most significant things I observed during last week’s scandal and turmoil over the NBC Tonight Show Host gig, is that NO ONE CARED until there was a villain.

My resolution for the new year was to post here at least once a week, and I’m already down by one.
Time to fix that.
Here’s something I actually wrote one afternoon during the holidays, and never did get around to posting. I guess the point of it is, if you’re stuck, you can find inspiration for your marketing anywhere you look. And in fact, cultivating this “holistic” approach will help make sure you never get stuck again.
So here we go: 10 Marketing (and business) Lessons I learned Playing Super Mario Bros.
